1QUEENS, NY – An off-duty firefighter with the FDNY was arrested late Thursday night in Queens after an alleged assault incident that led to criminal charges.

Officials said the arrest occurred at approximately 9:48 p.m. within the 116th Precinct.

The firefighter, identified as 35-year-old Chevon Hope, faces charges of assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.

Authorities have not released details about the circumstances of the incident or the condition of the alleged victim.

The FDNY confirmed the arrest and stated that the department’s Bureau of Investigations and Trials will review the case.
