A man has been jailed after 14 separate burglaries and attempted burglaries .
Darren Townsend has been sentenced to eight years and five months following an investigation into a burglary and attempted burglary in Ancoats and Denton . The 51-year-old, of Carfax Street, Manchester, was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on Tuesday (17 November 2025) after earlier pleading guilty to his offences.
His offences were reported throughout August, including 14 separate attempt burglaries in Denton and one in Ancoats. Townsend was arrested at the end of the month. Detective Sergeant Alexandra Smith from the Greater Manchester Police Tameside Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “Townsend is a prolific burglar, and this sentence is reflective of the crimes he has committed.
