SHREVEPORT, La. - It’s the time of giving and local organizations are stepping up their efforts to help those less fortunate this holiday season.

“I Am Change Inc.,” Refreshing Point Ministries and the NAACP of Shreveport, are sponsoring a big food giveaway.

Rhonda Phillips from “I Am Change Inc.” and Lester Smith with the Shreveport NAACP shared more about the event on Friday on KTBS, discussing why these organizations have decided to give back in such a big way.

"It's a blessing to be able to bless others," said Phillips.

Phillips felt it is necessary to give back to the community, especially with the recent government shutdown that lasted 43 days.

Smith said the event will help the Shreveport NAACP make history since they’ve never done anything like this before.
