Charges were filed Friday against the mother accused of fatally stabbing her daughter in Martinez, the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office announced.

The DA said 36-year-old Brittney Evanna Kazee was charged with one count of felony murder with a deadly weapon enhancement for using a knife in the commission of the offense.

Kazee was charged after allegedly stabbing her daughter, 19-year-old Shaniyah Kazee, on Tuesday following an argument, according to the DA’s office. Officials add Shaniyah was pronounced dead at the hospital.
