The Columbia Stormwater Utility began reopening Vandiver Drive to through traffic between Sylvan Lane and Nelwood Drive starting Friday.
The road was originally closed for an infrastructure upgrade project to prevent future flooding in the area , according to a news release from the city.
The city said the project involved replacing existing stormwater inlets and pipes with new inlets, six stormwater structures and approximately 2,080 feet of new stormwater pipe. The new system is designed to improve drainage.
The project was funded through a partial grant agreement of American Rescue Plan Act funds. The grant was awarded through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for State Fiscal Recovery Funds, according to the city's website for the project .
