The Room at the Inn in Mexico, Missouri, which is Audrain County’s only winter emergency shelter, will open its doors this December thanks to donations from the community and two anonymous donors, which have closed the funding gap that had initially delayed the shelter’s opening until January .
“This community never fails to come together when people are in need,” Ra’Vae Moore, executive director of the Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition, said in a news release.
“Because of the kindness of our supporters and donors who gave so generously from their hearts, Room at the Inn will now open in December," Moore said. "Their generosity means that individuals who would otherwise be without shelter will have a warm, safe place to stay throughout December, January and February.”
