WATERLOO, Iowa — Waterloo broke open a 2-1 game late in the second period and went on to beat Fargo 5-1 on Friday in USHL hockey.
Saxton Tess scored his fourth goal of the season at 4:17 of the second period to pull the Force within one on assists from Stepan Cerny and Patrick Tolan.
Chase Jette and Ty Mason each had a pair of goals for Waterloo, which won for the fifth time this season.
Ajay White took the loss for Fargo, stopping 21 of 25 shots as Fargo pulled him for an extra skater late in the game.
The teams finish the series at 6:35 p.m. Saturday night at Young Arena.
