Manager asks employee to work from hospital as wife goes into labour

A man shared screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation in which his manager told him to delay his leave or work from the hospital while his wife prepared to deliver their first child.

He posted the screenshots on Reddit’s ‘IndianWorkplace’ community with the title, “My company ignored my leave request during my wife’s pregnancy.”

“Posting from a throwaway account,” he wrote, adding that he turned to Reddit as he did not know what else to do.

He said, “My wife was admitted to the hospital for the delivery of our first child. I informed my manager and requested just two days of leave. Instead of basic empathy, I got told to delay my leave, asked if my parents can manage, and even told to work from the hospital.”
