A shooting at a Christmas lights switch on has left four people in hospital.
The family event in Concord, North Carolina, descended into chaos when a gunman opened fire l ast night.
Distressing video shared online shows families running in terror moments after shots were fired in the city's central square.
Concord resident Marquis Jenkins said: "I thought the fireworks went off. My daughter thought the fireworks went off, and here it was 78 rounds of fireworks (due to be let off)."
The Mirror has contacted emergency services for more detail on the nature of the injuries.
Local media reports four people were taken to the hospital. Three of the victims are understood to have serious injuries and one person is in a "stable" condition, according to police.
