BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Mathers Bridge in Brevard County is temporarily closed to boating traffic after mechanical and electrical failures that happened on Saturday, according to a news release.
County officials said the “mechanical support failure” occurred while the bridge was in the open position.

The bridge later reopened to vehicle traffic, but overnight efforts and additional work Sunday revealed an electrical system issue.
The electrical problem has kept the bridge closed to boats until parts can be obtained for repairs. There is currently no timetable for when the repairs will be completed, according to the release.
