PUYALLUP, Wash. — Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a robbery suspect Thursday afternoon after a brief pursuit that began at a WinCo Foods store in Puyallup and ended in a crash several miles away, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were dispatched at about 3:28 p.m. to the WinCo Foods on 176th Street East after reports of a robbery. The suspect fled the scene in a U-Haul truck, deputies said.
“The vehicle initially stopped, then took off eastbound,” the sheriff’s office said. Deputies pursued the truck with authorization to use a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver at speeds over 40 mph.
While deputies were responding, they received additional information that a victim had been stabbed during the robbery, according to the sheriff’s office.
