SEATTLE — Families in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood are on edge after a Nov. 21 afternoon shooting forced a daycare and preschool into lockdown and left parents scrambling to protect their children during pickup.
The daycare and preschool, called La Escuelita, immediately went into lockdown and kept parents updated throughout the situation, according to one mother. She praised the staff, saying they did everything to keep families safe and informed.
Still, in the wake of the traumatic incident, she and others told KING 5 they are frustrated by the broader issue of gun violence in the region.
"Worst... nightmare feeling, like,” Aubrey, the mother, said. She recalled realizing how close the danger was. “The shooting itself was happening like two feet from the school building.”
