TBI Officer Involved Shooting

CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading up to a deadly officer-involved shooting that took place on Saturday afternoon in Carter County.

According to the TBI, the Carter County Sheriff’s office responded to a report of vandalism at a home on the 100 block of Jarrett-Buck Loop in Johnson City.

When deputies arrived at around 2:30 p.m., they found a man, armed with a gun, who later barricaded himself in the home.

Law enforcement attempted to get him to surrender using chemical agents and other non-lethal means.

When officers tried to enter the room where the man was barricaded, he fired at them and fired shots at a law enforcement drone, eventually destroying it.
