PHOENIX — A man is missing after a Jeep was caught in the Agua Fria River, authorities say.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a 911 call regarding a vehicle that had been swept away in the Agua Fria River, near Table Mesa and Interstate 17, around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Authorities were able to hoist a passenger from the vehicle, but the man driving the vehicle is still missing.

While the search was underway, authorities found a second vehicle that was being carried away by fast-moving water. A deputy who was operating a drone located both people from the second vehicle after they climbed out and became stranded on the riverbank. Both adults were hoisted to safety, authorities said.
