ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -Larry Gray has been cooking hot meals and handing out clothes on the same North St. Louis block since the day after a storm hit the area.

Gray operates his relief effort at Ashland and Newstead, making sure anyone he meets has what they need to get through the day.

“It turned into this, so I’m sticking with it; people want me to stick with it. It’s important to have somebody out here like that,” Gray said.

Gray runs his operation solely on donations from private citizens, not organizations.

“The people of St. Louis have been really great so far, private citizens, they make sure I have plenty of everything I need to pass out, I’ve got a lot of phone numbers, they call me and check on me to see what do you need down there today,” Gray said.
