40-year-old Daniel Morris was arrested for punching a police officer.

Officers arrived at Hanover Road for reports of a disturbance in the area.

Officials said when Officer Hyvarinen made contact with Morris, he raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, and without warning struck Hyvarinen in the face with a closed fist.

Morris then put Hyvarinen in a headlock. After Hyvarinen was able to break free from the headlock they continued the physical altercation on the ground where Morris struck Hyvarinen for the second time.

Both Hyvarinen and Morris sustained facial injuries during the incident, police said.

Morris was evaluated on scene and was transported to Danbury hospital.
