PALO PINTO COUNTY, Texas — A man was taken to a Fort Worth hospital Sunday morning after the pick-up truck he was driving was struck by a crossing train, police say.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a Ford F-150 was crossing railroad tracks at Petty Road in Santo, and reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way to an oncoming train. The crossing doesn't have safety arms that lower when trains approach.

The F-150 was struck by the train, police say, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The man was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth with serious injuries, police say. The train was undamaged.

This incident comes less than a week after a 5-year-old boy in Tarrant County was killed in a crash involving a train.
