“Who cares?” That was Mark Carney’s glib, trite and dismissive answer when he was asked when he last spoke with American President Donald Trump.
Prime Minister Carney was in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sunday, speaking to reporters following him to the G20 conference. He took questions on expanding trade with the European Union and other countries, about pipelines here at home, and about talks with the Americans.
CBC reporter Ashley Burke asked Carney whether Trump had “returned your calls or texts,” before going on to also ask about what kind of red line he might have for doing business with less scrupulous countries as Carney seeks to pivot away from the United States.
