One beloved Strictly Come Dancing star "almost died" just minutes before the BBC dancing show's live Blackpool special. Head judge Shirley Ballas , saw her life flash before her eyes after choking on a fish bone for 20 minutes backstage at the iconic Tower Ballroom. Thankfully, her quick-thinking makeup artist, Jane Burstow, sprang into action when Shirley began turning blue.
Jane performed the Heimlich manoeuvre , successfully dislodging the bone and saving Shirley's life. The alarm incident happened when Shirley was getting ready backstage, only 30 minute before going live to an audience of over seven million viewers.
