The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday evening in George County.

According to MBI, the incident happened at a residence on BlackBerry Lane in Lucedale at approximately 7:10 p.m. Officers with a regional SWAT team were attempting to serve a warrant at the home when the subject barricaded himself inside.

After a standoff, the subject reportedly approached the door holding what appeared to be a weapon. Officers then fired their weapons, fatally striking the individual.

No officers were physically injured during the incident.

MBI is currently assessing the shooting and gathering evidence as part of its investigation. Once the investigation is complete, agents will present their findings to the Mississippi Attor
