Local Government Reorganisation could see major changes to how repairs are carried out

Major changes to local government could see Derby’s “extremely good record” at fixing roads get even better by stretching into the county, the city’s transport leader has said.

Carmel Swan, Derby City Council cabinet member for transport and sustainability, said there were “real opportunities” to gain from Local Government Reorganisation (LGR).

LGR could see the city council cease to exist in a few years time. Instead, Derby could be part of a new “South Derbyshire” council along with nearby district and borough councils.
