HOUSTON, TX (AZFamily) — Five people were hospitalized after fumes forced an American Airlines flight to Phoenix to be diverted on Sunday afternoon.
American Airlines Flight 2118, which was flying from Orlando, Florida, to Phoenix, diverted to Houston after the crew reported fumes in the flight deck and cabin, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
According to American Airlines, there were “reports of an odor on board” before the plane landed safely at George Bush Intercontinental Airport and taxied to the gate under its own power.
First responders met the aircraft at the gate per protocol and transported five people to a local hospital as a precaution, American Airlines officials confirmed.
The flight continued to Phoenix on a different aircraft.
