Police have launched an urgent appeal for information following the arrest of a man charged with the murders of two women and the rape of a third. Simon Levy, 40, from Beaufoy Road in Tottenham, was charged on 20 November with the murder of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53. He is scheduled to appear via video-link at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The police were alerted to an unresponsive woman at a property on the Aylesbury Estate on 17 March. Despite the efforts of paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, Carmenza was pronounced dead at the scene. Levy was initially arrested on suspicion of murder on 1 April but was released under investigation while inquiries continued.
He was rearrested on 4 September in connection with Carmenza’s death and also for the alleged murder of Sheryl Wilkins, 39, who died on 24 August on High Road, Tottenham. Levy was charged with Sheryl’s murder on 7 September. While in custody, he was further arrested regarding a separate incident on 21 January involving another woman in High Road, Tottenham. He faces charges of two counts of rape, grievous bodily harm, and intentional suffocation related to that case.
The Metropolitan Police have stated that all three cases are now being treated as part of a single, joined investigation. A trial date has been set for June 2026 at the Old Bailey.
In light of the ongoing investigation, police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Commander Clair Kelland, who leads the Met’s Public Protection Team, emphasised the importance of protecting women and girls. She stated, "The investigation into Simon Levy is one of great complexity. We are working closely with partners across relevant boroughs, including Haringey and Southwark, to encourage reporting and raise awareness of the support we can provide to victim-survivors."
Jaswant Narwal from the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that the decision to prosecute Levy for the murder of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo was made following a thorough investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service. He reminded the public that proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has a right to a fair trial.
