Nearly 25 years after a woman was found murdered and raped behind a church marquee in New Castle, a suspect is now facing charges.

According to the criminal complaint, 54-year-old Michael Tackett is charged with criminal homicide in connection with the death of Yvonne Richards, who was found dead at the church on December 3, 1999.

Police say when detectives found Richards's body at the church on the 200 block of Grant Street, she was lying face down with her pants pulled down to her ankles and her head partially depressed into the ground. Blood was seen on the back of her head.
