An air ambulance landed at a secondary school this afternoon after a child was injured on a sports pitch. A Year 8 pupil needed emergency treatment following an accident on an all-weather pitch at St Hild's Church of England School in Hartlepool, County Durham.

The boy was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough following the incident just before 1pm on Monday (November 24). He is currently believed to be in a stable condition .
