LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Days after a proposal was made public to change Jefferson County Public Schools start time again, the district is pulling back.
On Friday, it was announced that Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood would propose moving start times up by 20 minutes for the 2026-27 school year.
District officials said the proposal was driven by conversations he's had with principals and staff.
On Monday, the district said that after careful review, they are "pausing and withdrawing" that proposal.

"While the intent was to strengthen student learning conditions and improve operational efficiency, it is clear that more analysis and deeper engagement are necessary before moving forward."
