BOISE, Idaho — Athletic Club Boise conducted open tryouts over the weekend, with 53 players selected from more than 450 submissions competing for spots on the professional soccer team's roster. Among the participants, 13 were local athletes from the Treasure Valley.

Head coach Nathan Miller opened the field for scrimmages to evaluate the players' abilities and said some participants could earn roster positions for next season.

"It was really good to see that in this community there are some really good players that are 17-18 years old that can potentially be a part of the first-team setup," Miller said.

The coach emphasized the opportunity for young local talent to develop professionally without leaving the area.
