Nic Sima will take a short detour before the 2026-27 season, opting to spend the season in Ann Arbor instead of Saginaw.
Sima, 20, announced that he will join the University Michigan hockey team for the 2026-27 NCAA season after he ages out of the Ontario Hockey League.
The Saginaw Spirit forward is in his fifth season in the OHL and fourth with Saginaw after the Spirit picked him up in a trade with North Bay during the 2022-23 season.
This season, Sima has appeared in 22 games, scoring seven goals with five assists for 12 points.
He has played 188 games with Saginaw with 37 goals with 39 assists. He has appeared in 264 games in the OHL, ranking seventh among active OHL players, with 92 career points.
Sima also has plenty of playoff experience, with 37 games for North Bay and Saginaw,
