A Glasgow chef who catered to the stars as well as running a much-loved city centre restaurant has passed away after a "courageous battle" with lung cancer, his family have confirmed.

Tributes have been paid to John Quigley, 62, who was the owner of the family-run Red Onion restaurant in the city centre.

Quigley opened the restaurant on West Campbell Street almost 20 years ago, running it with his wife Gillian, and their two daughters Amy, 21, and Rosie, 25.

The family have released a statement, revealing that sadly, he had passed away on Sunday (November 23), stating: "On Sunday we sadly lost our beloved husband and father, John Quigley, far too young aged only 62, after an extremely courageous battle with lung cancer.

"John will be sorely missed by his wife, Gillian, and daughters
