NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Louisiana National Guard, alongside Louisiana State Police, will set up a security zone in New Orleans’ French Quarter ahead of the Bayou Classic football game, authorities said Monday (Nov. 24).

Law enforcement officials said the zone will be in place this Friday through Sunday.

Louisiana State Police says it will maintain a “strong presence” throughout the French Quarter, including along Bourbon Street throughout the event, in which football rivals Southern University and Grambling State University will face off Saturday at the Caesars Superdome at 1 p.m.

The French Quarter Enhanced Security Zone, as implemented during Mardi Gras and Super Bowl LIX earlier this year, will span from Canal to St. Ann streets between Royal and Dauphine streets, state police said.
