VENTNOR, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police in Ventnor, New Jersey, are searching for a hit-and-run driver who left a 92-year-old man seriously injured.

The crash happened last Thursday around 6:16 p.m. at Ventnor and Newport avenues.

Officers found the victim lying in the road when they arrived. The man sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. His current condition has not been released.

Police say the driver fled the scene after the crash.

"The accused vehicle was described as a white Volvo SUV, possible model XC40. The accused vehicle should have possible front passenger-side damage," authorities said in a news release.

Investigators have released a photo of the wanted vehicle.
