Shane Bowen is out as Giants defensive coordinator.
So what now?
Well, even before Bowen was fired Monday, this was the Giants’ reality: They surely will have both a new head coach and new defensive coordinator in 2026.
Bowen just happened to get turfed after a 2-10 start — two games after coach Brian Daboll was sent packing. At this point, it’s hard to imagine interim head coach Mike Kafka (0-2 on the job) getting the full-time gig.
So who will run the Giants’ defense under the totally new head coach in 2026 — and try to return it to respectability?
A lot of the answer depends on whether they hire an offensive-minded head coach (like Mike McCarthy or Klint Kubiak) or a defensive-minded guy (like Chris Shula or Lou Anarumo).
