ANN ARBOR – Michigan is the top college hockey team in the country.

Fresh off a two-game sweep over Ohio State, the Wolverines (13-3, 6-2) climbed one spot to No. 1 in both the U.S. College Hockey Online poll and USA Hockey poll on Monday.

Michigan, which received 42 of 50 first-place votes, overtook Michigan State for the top spot after the Spartans (9-3) were swept by Wisconsin (10-2-2) last week. The Badgers moved up to No. 2 in both polls, while MSU dropped to No. 3.

On Friday, the Wolverines used a three-goal third period to b eat the Buckeyes 5-2 .
