Strike action over pupil behaviour at a Northumberland high school has been put on hold for now. Teachers at Haydon Bridge High School had been due to walk out tomorrow [Tuesday, November 25].

But the National Education Union (NEU) has confirmed that Tuesday’s strike has been called off, following an eleventh hour meeting between union officials, Northumberland County Council, and school leaders. Two further strike days have, however, been scheduled for December.

Originally, NEU and NASUWT union members had planned to strike on November 19 and 25. Those strikes had been called due to “disruptive pupil behaviour and failure of management to act”.
