A North Tyneside school is set to reopen following a sudden closure due to a "potential critical threat". Kings Priory School in Tynemouth remained closed on Monday as a precautionary measure following a report of "malicious communications" directed towards the school.

Northumbria Police confirmed that officers attended the school on Sunday afternoon and after several hours established that there was "no credible threat to the school, its pupils or staff". As a result of the incident, parents were notified on Sunday that the school would remain closed on Monday .
