NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police arrested a woman Monday (Nov. 24) accused of mistreating elderly occupants of an unlicensed group home she was operating in Algiers.

Nona Burton, 65, was taken into custody from the house in the 3900 block of Sullen Place, police said. The NOPD said Burton was booked with five counts of abuse and neglect of adults.

Police said officers responded to the house after a call requesting a wellness check of its occupants. The arrived to find “multiple elderly individuals residing inside an unlicensed group home which was operating under poor living conditions,” the department said in a statement.
