TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - We love our furry friends and keeping them safe is a priority.
But veterinarians across Arizona are starting to get concerned, as some clinics say they’re seeing more cases of canine parvovirus, which usually isn’t at its peak at this time of year.
Parvovirus or “parvo” is contagious and potentially deadly. It usually impacts puppies and dogs, especially those that are unvaccinated.
13 News spoke to Tucson resident Ericka Castillo, whose six-month-old puppy is recovering from the disease.
Earlier in November, she noticed that her chihuahua mix Mimi, had not touched her food for several days and lacked her usual enthusiasm.
Her local vet diagnosed her with parvo, a huge shock for Castillo.
