OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - If you’ve visited Midtown or Blackstone recently, then you’ve navigated the maze of closures for streetcar construction.
Business owners have called the project devastating for their sales, and now, the city is looking to help with a new passport program.
“I think it’s devastating Midtown, it’s devastating Blackstone, and I think it’s going to devastate the Capitol District,” said Dan Yaksich, owner of Smokin’ Oak.
He says their sales have decreased by 25% since streetcar construction began.
“When it’s hard to get around, hard to park, it deters a lot of people from coming to eat here,” he explained.
In an effort to help, the city of Omaha is starting a passport program.
