The Detroit Red Wings outshot New Jersey by a sizable margin Monday and had penalty of scoring chances, but the Devils held on for a 4-3 victory at the Prudential Center behind Jacob Markstrom’s 32-save effort.
Alex DeBrincat, James van Riemsdyk and Dylan Larkin scored for the Red Wings (13-9-1). The Devils are 14-7-1.
Larkin scored his team-leading 13 th goal at 10:12 of the third period to cut the Devils’ lead to 4-3.
The Red Wings had several chances to tie it the rest of the way and ended up outshooting New Jersey 35-19.
A melee erupted after the final horn as Larkin and Lucas Raymond scuffled with some Devils while van Riemsdyk and DeBrincat also exchanged unpleasantries.
