SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County's Regional Solid Waste System is set to implement new garbage rates and an appliance disposal fee starting January 1, 2026.
County officials have stated these changes are necessary to address rising costs associated with waste disposal and maintaining existing operations.
From January 1, garbage rates will see a 4% increase, while yard waste rates will rise by 10 percent.
Additionally, a $30 fee will be introduced for special handling disposal of appliances containing refrigerant or Freon.
This fee will apply to items such as freezers, fridges, air conditioners and water coolers.
