TOWN OF SYLVESTER, Wis. (WMTV) - Two people are dead after a plane crash near Monroe Monday evening, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a Facebook post by the Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 5:15 p.m. in the area of W4600 block of State Hwy 59 in the Town of Sylvester.
The area of the crash is a gravel quarry on the northside of State Hwy 59, right next to the Monroe Municipal Airport.
When deputies arrived, they reported seeing a large fire with construction equipment on fire in the quarry along with large debris from the plane.
Monroe Rural Fire Department and Juda Fire Department responded to the crash and put out the fire.
Officials did not release the names of the people who were killed.
