TOLEDO, Iowa (KWWL) — One person is injured after a serious crash in rural Toledo Monday afternoon. Authorities say a vehicle veered off the roadway into a ditch on N Avenue. The vehicle had struck a steep culvert near a creek, making it invisible from the road. Luckily, two nearby farmers witnessed the crash and quickly called for help.

Deputies provided first aid, including applying tourniquets, and the driver was taken to a local hospital, though their current condition is unknown.

Sheriff Casey Schmidt emphasized the importance of teamwork in emergency situations, highlighting the coordinated efforts of the deputies, farmers, and emergency services in responding quickly to the rural crash.
