Bus driver Paul Conway, aged in his 50s, died in the collision, as did truck driver Wesley O’Reilly, aged in his 40s.
It is understood Mr Conway was from Tallanstown in Co Louth, and Mr O’Reilly was from Skerries in Co Dublin.
A woman who was driving a car involved in the crash is in hospital in a critical condition, as is a teenage girl who was a passenger in that car.
The woman was brought to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin and the girl was first admitted to our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda before being transferred to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin.
At least ten more people were also injured in the incident.
The crash took place at around 6.30am on the R132 at Gormanston.
