LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Brian Blalock has been sentenced on second-degree murder charges in the death of Christopher Stipanuk.
In April 2024, Blalock shot Stipanuk in the leg in Lansing. Stipanuk was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Blalock was also sentenced on a separate charge of assault with intent to murder (attempted murder) stemming from an incident in January 2024.
In both cases, Blalock will serve a minimum of 28 years. The maximum penalty for the homicide conviction is 50 years, and the maximum for the attempted murder conviction is 40 years.
He was 37 when he was jailed on the homicide charge and is currently 39.
Under the terms of the sentence, he could potentially serve the minimum sentence on the homicide by April 2055, at about age 65.
