GRATIOT COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - A 56-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck and killed Monday on M-46 in Pine River Township.

The man was traveling eastbound in his wheelchair on M-46, just east of Begole Road, when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by a 68-year-old man, according to the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office.

The wheelchair operator was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, though deputies say drugs, alcohol, and speed are not believed to be factors at this time.
