A winter storm is bearing down on northern Michigan, and in parts of the western Upper Peninsula, snowfall could reach nearly 2 feet or more by Friday, Nov. 28, the National Weather Service said.

Winter storm warnings and advisories are in place and spreading eastward across the UP and northern Lower Peninsula.

The bulk of Michigan's snowfall will accumulate in the UP, particularly in western regions, including the Keweenaw Peninsula, where expected snowfall could be up to 23 inches by Nov. 28, the NWS said. The highest estimates are in the Ironwood area, where totals could exceed 37 inches — up to 48 inches by Friday, the NWS said.
