Pupils are being sent home and residents evacuated as a major blaze rips through an industrial building in west London.

Around 150 firefighters on 25 fire engines have been tackling the fire at a two-storey building, comprising a warehouse and retail space, on Bridge Road in Southall since the morning. London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the blaze at 8.55am and declared it a "major incident" shortly after midday due to the suspected presence of fireworks and gas cylinders, which have posed safety challenges for crews. Three-quarters of the building is ablaze, with operations expected to continue throughout the day.
