Jury trials could be reserved only for cases of murder, rape, or manslaughter under a potential major overhaul of the legal system in Wales and England, it emerged on Tuesday.
Under the reportedly new proposals most cases would be decided by a judge sitting alone with juries used only for the most serious offences or those deemed to be in the “public interest".
According to the plans seen by various news outlets including the BBC , Mr Lammy reportedly wants to ask Parliament to end jury trials for defendants who would be jailed for up to five years. For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter here
