A man who died in prison was on remand awaiting sentence for arson, a court has heard.
Lee Nation died in HMP Swansea on Saturday, and the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman is due to investigate the circumstances of his death.
Swansea Crown Court heard on Tuesday that 36-year-old Nation, of Burrows Road, Skewen, Neath, had previously pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered - an offence committed at a Tai Tarian housing association property in Skewen on May 31 this year - and was awaiting sentence.
Alycia Carpanini, prosecuting, told the court that there was an email before the court from the duty governor of Swansea Prison notifying the court the defendant's death.
