The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued multiple lake effect snow warnings for wide portions of western and north-central New York, with forecasters expecting significant snowfall and dangerous holiday travel conditions from early Thursday through early Saturday.

Western Southern Tier & Southern Erie County: Up to 20 inches

A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Saturday for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Southern Erie counties.

Snow totals: 12 to 20 inches in the most persistent bands

Winds: Gusts up to 50 mph

Hazards: Whiteout conditions, deep snow on roads, drifting snow, and isolated power outages

North Country (Jefferson & Lewis counties): 6–12 inches
